SHORTS CONTACT/BIO
εὐδαιμονία, is a short documentary exploring how escapism and freedom of movement contribute to the creative thought process. Interviews by artists who lecture at The Royal College of Art: Dr Rathna Ramanatham, Jon Wozencroft, Jenny Nightingale and Ken Hollings, discuss how engaging with escape and travel, to quote Nightingale, “Opens up a space where things happen in a different way”. This symposium for human flourishing and the artistic temperament explores each artist’s intellectual and emotional engagement with a time when they longed for escape. Lee Gray, at the time a Moving Image student at the college, took these recordings on his own journey, visually responding to what he had heard with his own traveling experience. εὐδαιμονία is a reminder that freedom of movement is vital in not only artistic practices, but in the human condition; to push against borders, both psychologically and physical, and to understand better about what it is to be human. ‘It’s a very good test, to see, if you’re happy in your own skin’… Jon Wozencroft.
